John Solberg

Co-Founder, Senior Managing Director – CEO

John Solberg is an experienced real estate development deal maker with many years of executive and managerial experience successfully overseeing over 100 million sf of development, design, construction and property management activities for some of the nation’s top commercial development companies.

Prior to founding Onward Investors, John was President and CEO of Opus Northwest, L.L.C. based in Minneapolis with a region that extended from Minnesota westward and included offices in Kansas City, St. Louis, Denver, Seattle and Portland. Under John’s leadership, Opus Northwest consistently delivered commercial projects of the highest quality while consistently exceeding the company’s investment objectives.  For over 10 years Opus Northwest produced from $500 million to $700 million annually in revenue and was the most active commercial developer in most of its markets.  John’s industry experience includes time as Vice President for Intracorp Real Estate, located in Seattle and as Director of National Acquisitions and Development for Betawest Properties in Denver.

James C. Fritcher

Co-Founder, Managing Director – Design and Construction

Jim Fritcher brings more than thirty years of successful design-build and design-build-development project experience to the group, including project feasibility, program management, due diligence, development management, project management and executive leadership experience. Jim is a collaborative, creative, problem-solver dedicated to providing Owners with practical, high value solutions to their building program needs.

Jim’s experience includes over twenty-six years with the Opus Group, the last twelve as Opus West Construction Corporation’s Sr. Vice President.  As SVP, Jim was in charge of a six state region that averaged over $500 million in annual volume from 2005 through 2008.  Jim’s project experience includes managing the design and construction of virtually all major commercial product types from concept through completion, including low to high rise office, industrial, retail, multi-family apartment, residential condominiums, parking garages, mixed use developments and educational facilities. Jim’s experience also includes a number of successful public-private partnership projects won in value-based design-build-develop competitions. In addition to his Opus West duties, from 2001 to 2009 Jim chaired the Opus Group’s National Design-Build Leadership Committee.

Brad Osmundson

Co-Founder, Managing Director – Chief Legal Counsel

Brad Osmundson is a Principal Partner, Chief Legal Counsel, and Director of Real Estate Transactions and Mortgage Conversions for ONWARD, LLC. Brad brings almost thirty years of general, design-build, development and transactional legal experience to the ONWARD team.

Brad’s experience includes over twenty five years with major national developers – first with General Growth Development, Inc. and its affiliate General Growth Management, Inc. as Senior Counsel for eleven years, and then almost fifteen years with the Opus Group – most recently with Opus Northwest, L.L.C. as Vice President and General Counsel.

    Ron Sweet

Managing Director – Capital Markets

Ron’s primary role is capital procurement for commercial real estate investment opportunities at Onward.  His responsibilities include identifying and solidifying equity for capital needs at the entity level and on a programmatic or co-investment level, as well as developing a dedicated investment fund for discretionary investment opportunities at the project level.

Prior to joining Onward, Ron was responsible for business development for the Eastern Region of the United States for Guardian Investment Banking.  Ron’s role at Guardian included creating and maintaining banking relationships and being the main client liaison.  Ron has over 25 years of experience in commercial real estate finance, including forging partnerships with banks to create a long-term hold vehicle for their more difficult assets.  Previously, Mr. Sweet served as SVP for Marshall Group’s Commercial Real Estate Division where his responsibilities included sourcing and originating CRE opportunities, participation sales to other banks, and the negotiating, structuring, closing and servicing of CRE loans.  This included work throughout the US in major Tier I and Tier II markets, with transaction volume of over $2 billion and earned Ron top national performance awards in 2004 through 2007.  Ron experience also includes time as Vice President of ORIX USA Corporation and as a Senior Loan Analyst and Vice President for ITT Commercial Finance.

Stephanie Lunde

Director – Note Acquisitions & Special Servicing

Stephanie has extensive experience in the servicing and collection of under-performing and non-performing real estate loans.  She has directed the asset management and loan workout of loans with an aggregate principal balance of over $2.5 billion.

Prior to joining Onward, Stephanie was Executive Vice President of Presidium Asset Solutions, a distressed debt servicing company that manages $1.3 billion of commercial real estate and gaming loans on behalf of institutions nationwide.  Stephanie’s experience includes positions in management, underwriting, institutional sales, asset management, and loan collection and workout.

Scott Schmitt

Director – Acquisitions & Development

In his more than twenty year commercial real estate career, Scott Schmitt has been involved in all aspects of the development process including market analysis, leasing, acquisitions, financing, site planning, municipal approvals, design and construction.  Scott plays a lead role at Onward Investors in the asset acquisition and development function.  Scott is responsible for identifying opportunities in target markets and directing the acquisition and development process.

Prior to joining Onward, Scott spent four years as Vice President of Real Estate Development for Shingobee Builders in Minneapolis. Scott began his real estate career with the commercial real estate division of Kraus Anderson Construction and was a principal at Clearwater Development Group.
